Citigroup Helps Governments Create Digital Currencies

“We have been working with governments around the world in terms of creating and commercializing sovereign digital currencies,” shared Michael Corbat, CEO of Citigroup in a recent interview.

Without specifying which governments they are collaborating with, Corbat’s comments expose Citigroup’s keen interest in developing digital currencies with public institutions.

“Some of these currencies will be continuous alternatives, different sources of payment that people can tap into depending on the underlying nature of what they are” Michael Corbat, CEO Citigroup
