The Central Bank of the Bahamas is preparing for a nationwide rollout of its digital currency, known as “Project Sand Dollar”. The central bank digital currency (CBDC) had only been trialled in two regions, but on October 20 the central bank will begin a “gradual national release”. That will make the Bahamas one of the first places in the world to have access to a CBDC.
